Super 55 engine knock/rattle

I have a 56' super 55, runs strong, no smoke but has a persistent knock/rattle at all rpm. Ive tried to pinpoint but cant locate the issue. Pulled the pan and all seems tight, reset the valve lash, oil looks good and stays pretty clean.
Runs very well, just a disconcerting rattle.
 
Could be a tooth on a cam/crank/dist./hydraulic pump gear, coupler alignment, flywheel coming loose(unlikely). Is it a new sound? Plenty of oil on the rocker arm shaft? I've been known to get frustrated and allow it the time to become more obvious. gm
 
Didnt some of them have flyweights in the governor that got wore and made noise at all speeds? Seems like somebody said that long ago
 
Gas or diesel? Have you had your oil checked by a good lab for excessive metal particles? We had some Oliver's that were noisy because of worn timing gears.

et on timing gears, overhauled everything on mine, didn't check the timing gears and have that same rattle. Time will tell how serious it is I guess. Definitely coming from the front of the engine.
