I'm stumped. Have you ever known a throw out bearing to act like a bad pilot bearing? Squawk and make the tractor creep forward when you let the clutch pedal up?
It's a 1365. I put a whole new clutch and pressure plate in it three years ago this month and put a new throw out bearing in it when I did. It was making that noise before I put the new stuff in it,then for about a year after,it was alright. I went back to making the noise again then. I noticed that almost every time it does,it only does it in high range, but that's not to say it won't in low range but it's rare. They have an odd clutch setup in them where the PTO clutch runs against the flywheel and the main clutch in actually inside the pressure plate. The PP has two sets of three fingers for the two throw out bearings, one for the foot clutch, one for the PTO hand clutch.
They don't have a pilot for the main clutch and transmission input shaft, only for the PTO shaft which is the inside shaft like any other Oliver except the Super 55 and 550.
The clutch was slipping bad again,so I split it today. The throw out bearing that's only three years old is catching and rolling real rough. They don't slide on a sleeve, they just move back and forth on the input shaft. All that makes any sense to me is that it's hanging up and grabbing on the shaft while it's up against the fingers on the pressure plate. I just can't wrap my head around it.
I took the top off the transmission. I can't find where there's anything obvious in there. Everything looks excellent. It's all tight and rolls easy. I've had the transfer case out of the bottom of is several times for a leaky seal and broken snap ring more than once. I can't ever find any shavings or anything in there, and it's the lowest point in the whole transmission. The PTO pilot bearing rolls smooth as glass. That's always engaged anyway to run the loader pump and relieve the strain on the engine thrust bearing.
I'm taking the clutch and pressure plate in to have them rebuilt and I'll put another new throw out bearing in it. I just never had a T O B act like that.
