Have this huge heavy duty backhoe that I am removing the rear---BACKHOE-- from the tractor. There are two hydraulic lines going back to the hoe that are 1 1/4 OS DIA. and a bigger 2 inch dia. hose there also. Thinking the 2 inch dia. hose is the return. QUESTION--HOW do I hook up the system with the ---BACKHOE--removed so that I don't blow up my front mounted pump and yet have the front loader and power steering continue to work. Guessing I have to reconnect those lines somehow. Thank you for any help---len in Michigan

I haven't looked at one of those since the 60's.
I would suggest the following; check the front pump and determine the suction/in and outlet/pressure lines. To do what you want the pressure line should connect to the "in" port of the loader valve and the outlet/return port of the loader valve to the reservoir. The loader valve should have a relief valve to protect the pump. I don't know how the power steering was supplied. Are there two pressure lines coming out of the front pump? Most of the machines from the 60's used a generator mounted or separate belt driven PS pump. not a flow divider. My guess is that you only need to have a pressure line from the pump to the loader valve and a return from from it to the tank. You can call the Floyd county museum, Phone# in link below to get a parts manual or operators or call me at five-seven-four-2-four-3-five seven five one, leave a message w/ your phone no. and I will call you back (we don't answer calls from "unavailable".
