Super 77 with two-stroke Detroit Diesel?

Just bought an Oliver Super 77 row-crop with a small Detroit Diesel in it (maybe a 253?). I'm more familiar with the 6 cylinder diesels in Olivers than this engine. Was this offered as an option on the 77, or is this a barnyard conversion?
