Oliver 77 spider gear shims

Good evening! So, I took an equal amount of shims out of
each side right behind the brakes. Now the tractor makes a
pretty loud noise from the rear end with the slightest turn of
the steering wheel. Going straight is just fine. The goal was to
get a bit of less ?one wheel spin? at the pulling track. Is it
possible to inform me over this great forum how to properly fix
this? Or do I just put them all back in and hope the chatter
goes away? As always, thanks for your time. Eric

They have to have a very slight bit oof freedom between the teeth.grinding, growling in drivetrain spells disaster, did you check loosness of each gear on the spider and the cone bushing washers at the wide or top of the gears? You might have some loose worn internally gears that are binding now that you moveed them out of the worn home area.i cant see how tighning the spider gears up will reduce slippage, but id rather them looose and smooth but thats me

If you took shims out from the brake drums you changed the ring gear backlash.

You are suppose to have a dial indicator on the ring checking backlash as you go.

You might be ok but as R.w.b. said when you change where it was running it can make noise. I tightened the backlash on some car gears once and they were howlers after that.
