I have an 1850 with some head issues. I know where I can get a head from a 372 Perkins. What are the pros and cons to using the 372 head on my 354?

The head on the 1850 right now has some burned valves. I can get the 372 head cheaper than having the 354 head redone

Burnt valves are unusual on a naturally aspirated diesel. send me an e-mail.

What were the issues with the 1850 head?

Are there any advantages or disadvantages to using a 372 head?

Not that I can think of, 372 is 3 15/16 inch bore, 354 is 3 7/8. Not sure if all block sleeve OD bores were the same, but some Perkins/MF specs showed they were on the 236/248 four and 354/372 six. Turbo diesels did come with hardened exhaust seats, NA engines did not have.
