No joke. This little 1955 Super 55 diesel came out of a junkyard I?m Mattawan Michigan. They had a claw in there cleaning the place up so this little guy was only days away from death at most. Dad got air in all the tires this morning before I came over and that was all the farther he was gonna go on it. I wanted to see what kind of shape the pump was in so I gave it a good bath and pushed it back in the garage. Pulled the inspection cover off the pump and did the screwdriver test. Everything was free and the inside was spotless so I decided to give her a whirl. Somebody deleted the mechanical lift pump at some point and added an electric one which was dead so it was a bit of a trick to get fuel to the pump. Got that figured out, cracked the lines at the pump. Had fuel at all 4 ports. Tightened everything up. Gave her a snort of ether, it probably rolled over 4 times and was sitting there picking away on all four. Little girl runs like a champ. Idles smooth, no knocks, holds good oil pressure, good snappy throttle and starts super easy. No clue how long it sat but it was long enough to be covered in moss. Now time to start fixing stuff. Oh, and we have the hood, just wouldn?t fit with the battery we had to throw in it to start it.
