1750 diesel

This tractor has set for five years. We put fresh diesel in it. Primed it to the pump, but we can't seem to get the diesel past the pump. We cracked the lines and hand-primed and cranked, to no avail. How do we check the injector pump to see it it's working? Thanks in advance.

When you cracked the injector high pressure lines, did anything come out? I bought an 1855, similar situation, the fuel shut off lever inside the pump (sorry, don't know technical name) under the top cover was sticking in the off position. Had to pull the top cover off and wiggle it around before it would pump.

Let us know what you find out! Good luck!

First thing I would do is take off the small rectangle timing cover on the injection pump and look for particles resembling coffee grounds. If they're there you'll need to rebuild it.

Setting that long I doubt it will ever work as is. I get lots of pumps in for repair that have set less time with metering valve, delivery valve, and plungers all stuck from setting with stale fuel. Bio diesel, or any water in the old fuel will GAURANTEE it won't work until torn down and completely cleaned.

After five years I would bet money the internal guts of this pump are stuck. I get pumps just like this weekly. This is a very popular problem. Al
