Now I am having problems with the engine. Seems the return line is not functioning properly. I can take the one way valve off the injector pump and it runs I have had it off and in ultrasonic cleaner but it will not take the fuel when it?s on.
I see the ball can I get rid of this?

Sounds to me it's time for injection pump repair. If engine starts, then slowly looses speed and dies, then will repeat again five minutes later the governor flex ring is breaking apart inside which then plugs the return and cause engine shut down. Confirm be loosening the two screw timing cover on the pump side, if engine runs fine WITH the fuel leak, but stalls with the cover tight pump needs repair SOON! DON'T knock the return ball out and keep running it, pump will be ruined when the retainer pins shear, seize the rotor and break the drive shaft. Just repaired a JD 4620 pump for the same trouble..

This is what it looks like.

This is the hall valve
I will remove injector pump for overhaul
Next up is new hydraulic seals. How do these things come apart. I unscrewed the retainer ring and tapped off the collar but the gland still will not come out

Overhaul myself? I am a mechanic and have done many carb but not much experience with diesels.
Or is there a good shop to send it to?
Thanks

I have repaired four of them for myself. It is not really all that hard. But it is tedious and you have to have a very clean place to work on them. I just took one off of my neighbors 4020 and had him take to Baker diesel for repair. Then I put it back on. Just make sure you have the two lines lined up in the timing window before you pull it off. And unhook the battery so engine does not get turned. Might be best to send it to Dieseltech. I am sure he will make it right! Which ram are you working on?

Ed, in my parts book most of the cylinders have a ring that is made of a round material inside the barrel. You would need to remove the nut, then use a hard block of wood to drive the gland down into the cylinder maybe a 1/4 inch. Then you can see the ring. Use a pick or thin screwdriver to flip it out. It has a gap in it. Then your gland will come out. That big nut just holds the gland tight to that ring. Hope this helps!

NOT a good idea to take the ball out of the system.. ALL that old "plastic" goes back to the tank.. See Cedric's picture..
Taking it out will get u back to the house but u shouldn't run it like that..
& buying a new return connector wont help either.. the part that's "clogging it" is deeper inside the pump.. & requires the pump to come off the tractor & disassembled.

Okay. I am on way to hydraulic shop for new seals

Yes that is a broken pipe wrench in the pic. Gland nut is really on there.
