Hello to all the master Oliver Mechanics.. I have a 1855 Oliver that has a problem on both of the rear hydraulic remotes. Each act a bit different but I believe same problem... Issue is as follows:
When I operate a cylinder, it will operate fine for several cycles and then all the sudden it will not retract. hydraulics will just squeal as if it can't over come the load to retract. However their is no load. The directional control valve level will move but it seems like there is something in the remote stack that will not allow the fluid to let the fluid retract. If you go back and forth several times with remote lever it will start retracting at some point. I have completely disassembled this dude thinking I would find something on poppets or seats or plunger but they look decent.. See notes 1,2, 3 on pic attached.. One thing I noticed is the o'rings on the seats are not the greatest but they were not cut. Could they be leaking just enough to cause?
Second item I noticed was the cross hole on the retainer where the ball seats seemed beat up some.. which is note #4. I have also tried to attach a close up picture of this. Outside of this I can't find anything..
I tried to be very detailed in hopes one of you masters can help me along to some bright improvement here. Thank you in advance! Jim
