1956 Oliver Super 55 or 550

I just bought a 1956 Oliver Super 55 based on a 35-2401 serial number. I am confused because the super 55 did not have the big OLIVER logo across the front grill. Mine has this OLIVER logo on the front Grill. Did they make different styles in 1956 or is mine a 550????

Your S/N makes it a 1956 Super 55. They went from Super 55 to 550's in '58.

Are you referring to the green strip between the grills that spells "OLIVER" vertically?

o my Oliver Has it spelled out in white letters horizontally like the 550. The serial # 35-2401 makes it a super 55

You mean like this?
If so, I’d say someone put some 550 sheet metal on it or possibly made one tractor out of two. That SN is definitely a Super 55.

Maybe someone else with more knowledge will comment. Don’t get discouraged, I find the Oliver, Cletrac, Coop, and Cockshutt frequenters slow to respond.

Brad is correct. Look at the line below that number and post that number. It will be either 8 or 9 digits.

You were sooo right. That was the spec#. The actual serial # makes it a 1958 550 gas. The tractor seems to be in good condition with twice the power of my 8n. What else do you know about these Oliver tractors?
