Different verisons of the 1850 diesel

I know they made the 1850 Perkins diesel from 1964 to 1969. Is there a differences between the years where a specific year was better then the previous, or a specific year had inherent problems compared to other years?

The last year COULD have had a three speed Over/Under instead of a two speed hydra power, and the very last ones had a different head and manifolds if memory serves me right, but I wouldn't say one year was better than another.

Little differences in the years, 66 i think was the last year they had the pto lever on the left side. Pre cleaner was bigger on the earlyones up to 65. But that didn't hurt the performance of them. Some other things i am not thinking of.

I can not believed you asked that. Be a Deere, an IH or an Oliver there are always changed made from when the first one rolls off the assembly line till the last of that model rolls off the assembly line! Look at all the changed made in the 354 Perkins from the first one in an 1850 to the last one in a 2-110 white.

That is not correct. Just about the only same 6.354.1 and the T6.354.4 is the displacenent.

Wasn't there some little improvement in the rear end when they went from,I believe it was a 185 code to a 285? Something about the pinion carriers or something?
