Does anyone know of any replacement liner for the 3-15/16 pistons for the M&W pistons for an 1850 gas. The 3-7/8 liners bored out seem to crack fairly easy. Also does anyone know of any sleeve manufacturer making a 4" liner for the 310. I have a set of 4" M&W pistons I would like to put in another engine. Thanks for your help

I'm sure that a Case 207 diesel liner will fit,see if you can find a spec. for it in an aftermarket book. The originals were chrome plated steel, but the aftermarket ones are cast. This motor was used in Case 580c,loader backhoes and 450C dozers plus many other construction equipment pieces.

I researched some specs. Looks like it should fit but be a little loose in the bore. Did you or someone else use these before?

When I was a parts man at a local (M&W and Herschel) dealer 10 years ago I researched this and the M&W 3-15/16 sleeve had long since been discontinued with none in stock anywhere. I've seen used ones pop up on ebay a couple times. I think your best bet is getting custom sleeves made to your specs from a company like Darton.

We used them in an 88 some years back, seems like we had the top counter bore machined slightly to keep them straight, machined the sleeve fire ring thinner so that it pressed into the head gasket like a fire ring, just had to be sure to have piston rings compatable with the steel sleeve.
