1850 pro issues

I bought a 1850 diesel with dual speed
pto unit 2 summers ago and I have not
used it because I knew there were some
issues that needed to get taken care of
one being the pto. I Removed the unit
from the tractor because it was
constantly spinning when tractor was
running and could not disengage it with
the lever. The cross shaft in the rear
end that holds the shift fork would not
move at all with tractor running or not.
The shifter handle is not frozen in the
pivot. With the unit out I found some
major issues, which I posted the other
day up on the main discussion board if
anyone seen it or not. Blue RTV silicone
plugged the oil passage to the top shaft
and clutch pack. So some major damage
occurred: the shift collar was broken and
I believe jambed up the fork, the cast
bearing support that bolts to the back
side of the cover is cracked completely
across it by where the thrust washer
rides, the bearings on that upper shaft
are junk, all the clutch friction discs
and separator plates are burnt beyond any
use. So beyond those issues there are
more. I assume that someone else tried to
fix it before due to the blue rtv globbed
on the gasket surface. They tapped the
hole in the clutch hub Where the pin gets
driven in to hold it in place on the top
shaft and put a cut off bolt with the
head ground down in there. I had to back
off the large adjusting nut to even get
it out with vise grips. Then they removed
the plunger, pin and spring that moves
when you install the 1000 rpm shaft. They
just put a soft plug in there as if it
were a single speed unit.

So for the past few days I have been
searching for parts to rebuild the unit
the proper way and replaced the bad
parts. I believe I have located most all
the parts I need between new and used
from different places. One of the
questions I have if anyone knows maybe
is: I thought there should be a washer
that goes inside the lower shaft behind
the seal for the plunger that moves in
and out when changing the 1000/540
shafts. I cannot find it in any parts
books or a part number for it. I seen it
in a good video that Chris Losey posted
on how to rebuild one of these units.
Maybe it is a updated part. So if someone
knows what this washer is I would
appreciate any info? Thanks and sorry
for the long post.
