J. Schwiebert, I would like to talk to you about a front pulley issue, hoping maybe you can shed some light. I cannot ever seem to find your e-mail however. suggestions?

J- just so you know, and I'm sure you've figured this out based on the numerous responses you've received, but your email does not show in modern view for many of us. When we switch to classic view, it will either show as [no email] or [send email] depending on the post. There seems to be no consistency. I don't know if it's a you issue, an us issue, or a forum issue.

It always says its not open. I have mine open, can you try to reply through that? if that don't work I will just post my number for you to call

Actually, I think I may have just found the answer I was looking to ask you about. My front pulley is a two (2) piece. The inner piece has an inside straight bore, slotted for the key, with a tapered outside OD. The other, outer piece has a tapered bore, no key way. I was thinking that this was a joke, and there must have been some improvements made to this, but in my quest, I actually found a "new" pulley at a dealer. Much to my surprise, it is made identical, and upon reviewing the spec's on the new and mine, they are identical. I have never seen anything on a crankshaft nose made like this before.

I have to admit that I did not measure the length of the bolt. I did , however order a new one, as well as new spacers and locking bolts to make sure it goes back together right. it was tight on the shaft when it was taken apart, this time, but you can definitely tell that at some point in its life cycle it was run loose. Once I get the crank back in it, front cover back on, I am going to have to see how much clearance I have between the pulley and cover/seal, and then where the seal will run. If its not right I will buy the new pulley.
I have run into some things that makes you really scratch your head, makes you think in some cases that someone didn't know what they were doing when they put it together, and then you find out it is a factory deal. Heck, as long as i am asking questions, and someone once said there is no such thing as a dumb question, I assume, that this "gasket" or felt or?, they are talking about, must go between the crankshaft gear and the pulley hub so oil doesn't follow key way out and leak? Thanks in advance!

They changed the length of the cap screw and the torque value of the screw. Yes that is where the gasket goes. Put your e-mail in modern view.

Okay, I will check into this. I tried this before, and for what ever reason you could not get through. [email protected]

J. Schwiebert- can you do us all a favor and double check your settings in modern view? Click on your profile link in the upper right of the webpage in modern view (in the FAQ/Seach/Memberlist etc. options box) and when the profile page opens, can you make sure your email address is entered, and "Always show my email address" is selected "yes".

A lot of us can't email you in modern view, including me, and I didn't get a response when I tried emailing through classic.
