Hello. I have been working on restoring a Diesel Super 55 and ran into a problem getting ANY output from the generator (Delco) with what seems to be a Vickers power steering pump mounted on the back. The power steering was working, okay, though not great --- that's next -- but the generator really needed a total rebuild. However, the gen had a splined shaft protruding from the end opposite the pulley end and none of the rebuilders had any idea what to do about that (especially since the spline seemed to be somewhat damaged on the one I removed. I found a shop that not only DID fix and totally rebuild the generator but offered to help on the power steering pump, too (it seems that these units are very similar to those used on mid-50's corvettes and they even had spare shafts ON HAND) to rebuild, as necessary. The generator works GREAT, now, and I am starting work on the power steering pump. myself, so far.
