Oliver 1550 Diesel engine options

Hello, I am working on a diesel 1550 Diesel engine. The block is cracked beyond repair, swelled the deck where it cracked. I am in the process of taking the rest of the engine apart to see what is good. I believe everything but the block is reusable. Can I use a 77 block and use the rest of my parts to build and engine? Mainly curious if my head and crank will work on/in a 77 Diesel block? Thanks

Same as in it'll have the cast in alternator mount? Would earlier 770,Super 77 and earlier 77 blocks work otherwise?

It's been a few years but I know somebody that called Maibach's for a new 1550 bare block and they had a few then. Apparently, they bought some old inventory. Worth a call to see if they have any left.

Don't think the sleeves from the 1550/late 770 block will go into an earlier block at least that was what I was told when I was looking for a block for my Utility 1550.

mine is a 1952 and the 3 3/4" sleeves go right in. If you don't care about being correct any of the 77/770 blocks will work, they all will take the bigger cranks with the bigger rod journals, the mains are the same. Chuck
