an 1850 is a big tractor to take in the woods but I had a need for fire wood given the deep freeze coming. Got it stuck, they really have poor traction for such large machines.

Got my son out with the atv thinking a good jerk would give it the needed nudge... nothing. Thought about going up to the house for a ratchet strap to pull it out.

Then it hit me, I wasn't the young man relying on a strong back anymore, having a few bucks I didn't just have a tractor, I had a loader

tilt blade in, drop blade down, lift front end, rotated bucket up pushing the tractor out...lol

We got our 1650 Oliver stuck in the woods many years ago. Tried helping it with an IH 464 with a loader. Now both stuck clear to the belly. Called the neighbor with a different green 3020 and it sunk. All because we dropped over a root with each tractor. Called another neighbor with a red 1466 with duals. We rounded up every heavy chain and cable in the neighborhood and kept the 1466 on a hard packed lane and after 12 hours, we had all the tractors out of the woods. That woods is now declared a wetland by the department of environment management. If a leaf falls in there, it stays.

I got my loader stuck in the woods once and tried what you did. The soil was so soft the bucket sunk in with the down pressure and rolled the dirt out. Got out eventually but left a lot of damage.

good stories...I have a few of those, one involving 5 concrete trucks all strung out trying to free one buried up to the body with me and a wheel barrow going a long way on a very long day lol

ground was frozen solid, machine in some very small ruts, flat ground here in N.W. Ohio, tires just sit and spin till it gets a little nudge. I wouldn't take a 2x loader in soft ground especially this one, traction wouldn't let me anyways, really is poor.

the 1610 loader is a beast, hauling huge ash logs is no problem. I've used smaller tractor loaders, never could do what I needed them 2 do.
