I am trying to put the Roosa Master pump back on. I over hauled the engine. I need to know which flywheel timing mark to use. My manual doesn't show for a Roosa Master.

Will need to check my notes, sure it's not a 550? I've never seen a Roosa pump on a S55, but have repaired several from late 550. The Roosa is timed end of injection, while the PSB is timed beginning of injection.

Do you have the flywheel on? Was there a timing tape on the flywheel? If nothing was done to the flywheel there will be no marks for a Roosa pump? Since you overhauled it did you correct the valve recession in the cylinder head?

The Roosa will time close to TDC since the retainer is marked for end of injection. Could be plus or minus a bit, but it's NOT FP, 26 BTDC like the PSB pump is.

What do you mean the head was checked? The recession on those heads was not correct when they were new! My e-mail is open. Correct recession makes a huge difference on those Oliver 4 cylinder diesels! send me an e-mail. J.

I repaired a pump for a guy last week off a 660. It was a Roosa without an advance. If I remember correct the timing was 5*BTDC. I think it used the same engine, but I might be wrong. Al

I did check where the flywheel was before I removed the pump. Don't know what the degrees are. I am going to try old setting first.
