I have an Oliver 1850 MFWD with the 4 53 Detroit, would any of you know just ball park what the tractor would be worth in good working condition

I read your other post re the hydraulic fluid into the transmission. You have a leaky pump pump or pan or both. Regardless, if it's in good original onditionn and that problem is fixed, $15k is not unreasonable. Restored and perfect can bring much much more. It is a very desirable tractor.

We love the tractor and it will never leave our farm hope to get it back in working condition as soon as possible. Nothing like the sound of that Detroit bellowing when put in a pull!

I read your other post as well. I would
think a tractor like that in working
condition and in decent shape should
bring 12 to 15k.. As for the hydraulic
leak I would suspect the seal on the pan
for the draft control rod is leaking. Not
to hard of a job to do, but you do have
to remove the hydraulic unit off the top
of the trans/rear end housing.

If the hydraulic oil does not leak when the tractor is not being used the front seal on the pump leaks because the pump has too much internal wear.

It does only leak when tractor is running, I have found a pump and will be ordering in the next couple days, that seems to be the common answer everyone has to my problem. Thanks for your input sir!

It would be a good idea to change that draft control shaft seal while you've got it apart anyway.

What it is worth, and what someone is really willing to pay is two different things. I had a 1850 MFWD that was original and I used it almost daily to haul manure and a chore tractor. Many guys cried I was treating this classic collectable tractor poorly. So I listed it an bought a JD2950 MFWD to replace it. I got tired of call after call from someone trying to offer me 2500-3500 bucks. Each had a good reason why it was not worth more, but much less than the big numbers guys shout out that these 4wheel drives are worth. After a year I let it go to a well known collector for 6500. Remember, it was a complete running tractor. Barn fresh with a few leaks, but able to head to the field by turning the key. Truth is it is only worth what the last bidder is willing to pay on that particular day. Someone's opinion on how much something is worth will not pay any bills. Cash in hand will. AL
