Re: Cat 3208 HP

Yes the fuel injection pumps were different. The 3150 used an inline pump with scroll metering . The 3208 used a V pump with sleeve metering . The V pump was a lot more sensitive to fuel contamination. The 3150 was 573 C.I. the 3208 was 636 C.I.. The 3208 had a beefier crankshaft and was less prone to breakage then the one in the 3150 . Both of them were rated at 147 PTO or 175 flywheel in the 2255. It was very easy to get way more out of them with just the turn of a screw. Much over stock and the O/U couldn't handle it. The 3208 used in the 4-150 and the 4-175 were rated at 175 flywheel horse. The 4-210 was rated at 210 flywheel horse. The 4-225 was turbo charged and rated at 225 flywheel horse. The 3208 also had a turbo charged 250 flywheel horse used in medium duty trucks.

The 3208's in my trucks were 210 hp. They could be 225 hp but I never messed with them. The ones I had did
good at the standard 210 hp.

This is a little bit off the topic. But I hope some one can help me I have 1505 MF with a 3208. Will a 3208 out of a TR 70 combine work Will the bell housings interchange and front cover. The tag is gone off my engine. Thanks for any in put.

The non turbo 3208 Cats that we had in Ford L 8,000 semi tractors had sticker saying they put out 155 HP.

We bought this 1505 MF new in 1974 from a dealer the motor has never been out. A rod went out and damaged the crank. So I’m looking for a motor, the rest the tractor good. I welcome any input. Thanks

I always tell people to look for old surplus garbage trucks, truck/ heavy equip. wrecking yards, etc. If you're near either ocean, marine yards too.
