Oliver 77 brake setups

I have a 1949 Oliver 77 and I need some brake parts. I have a setup where the pedals are almost straight and look like this:

but parts are hard to find and I see a lot more that look like this:

Does anyone know if it is possible to convert over to the later pedal style?

and it seems easier to find parts for tractors with pedals that look like this:

New style pedal

You have the original style brakes. My e-mail is open. But I need a tractor serial number and then maybe I can help you. You also need the arms and the linkage if you are going to convert it over. Do you have the lining?

Serial number is 325284. I'd just as soon get the linings and everything at once.

So it is possible to convert? I guess that's my main question. Is it just the pedals and linkage that are different, or are the bands different too? I read something about needing to do a much more thorough overhaul but I think that was for disc brakes?

You can email me for sure if you'd like, or we can just discuss in the open here. I guess if we use the forum then other people might be able to learn a little more in the future by searching the forum.

I'm not being as clear as I should be. Are there two different pedal styles that work with band brakes? And if so, do those two different pedal styles work interchangeably with the rest of the brake assembly, or do you need different bands if you swap the pedals?

I definitely need a right brake pedal. I'd like to get some bands with good linings as well, and the splined piece that fits into the band. I guess I'd just as soon buy a full setup, all the pedals and bands and everything from someone. Then I could sell or hold onto whatever is left.

You need the linkage for sure and there were 3 styles of brakes. It has been 42 + years since I worked for the Oliver dealer and probably close to 50 since I put a set of band brakes on. Send me a snail mail address. J.

There's a pair of pedals for sale right now on the Des Moines, Iowa Craig's list site. I'm pretty sure the owner has all the linkage and brakes to go with. If not, I might.

I got your e-mail and have since looked at a picture. You can NOT convert because the rear main frames are different. You do not have the 2 pivot pins for the later style + the bands are different.

Ok, thanks for taking the time to bring me up to speed on this. I will focus on getting the parts for my tractor rather than retrofitting from a later model.

Thanks for the reply. I believe those are the newer version, so by all means go ahead. Thanks for giving me the first crack at it.
