770 with Power Booster Trans. Oil

I did a search here, and there were some chats about 770 oil. It seems some guys guys say to use either 10w30 motor oil, as it helps out the Power Boost,,, or 80-90, with or without a PB, it makes for quieter transmission noise. The book says to use 19 qts. of either 5w-20 or 10w-30,motor oil,, with the 102 082A additive, [which is obsolete].

So, in cold Northern Illinois, with a 1960 770 with a working Power Booster,,,what is the definite answer to this oil question: 10w 30 motor oil, 80-90 gear lube or some even say Hy-Tran ,,,,,,,,,,,,,???

I asked an Oliver mechanic about ten years ago what to use in my 880. He told me to use a good quality Hy-Tran type of oil.

The 10W30 required an additive that is no longer available.

It was maybe a pint can and it seems we thought it smelled like salt water. So I have no clue to what was in there.

Been a while since that was done.

I use 10-30 motor oil. Never any problems. Can use Hy-Tran as well. 80-90 gear oil should not be used with power booster drive due to fast turning shafts not being properly lubed.
