!850 with Perkins

How long of a story do you want? LOL

Oliver had a deal with Waukesha to provide most of their engines. They were cast by Oliver, sent to Waukesha to be assembled and then they were sent back to the Oliver factory. When the 1850s were being designed,Waukesha was in charge of engine design. Oliver wanted more power in the 1850 than the 1800s had,but at the time,Waukesha wasn't interested in designing a larger diesel engine. White had bought Cockshutt in 62,and Cockshutt had been using some Perkins engines for a few years,so,long story short, they went to Perkins and put the 6-354 in the 1850.
