1265 FWA bushing

Looking for bushing with part number 31-2900338. Its in the
front steering sector on fwa. New bushing with part number
72090727 is no where near close. Hopefully someone here will
have one. Thanks in advance for any help

Doug,

You’ll have to make that one. Here’s mine from the 1365 FWA I restored, and you’re absolutely right, not a chance it fits. Agco either ordered those bushings on the wrong spec, or messed something up in the part number reference.

Easy to make for anyone with a lathe though, so just go that route.

I would definitely be interested
doing that if I knew what the I.D.
is supposed to be because I don't
think it's supposed to be a snug
fit on the pin. If you can give me
that spec, I would greatly
appreciate it. I came up with about
1.28 on the O.D. Thanks for the
response.

4wd with power steering, right? The parts book says the bushing is the same for both with and without power steering, but that’s not correct. Want to make sure we’re talking about the same location. Are you talking about the bushing that shows pin (31-2900474) going through it?

They don't show it listed, plus
tried calling them yesterday and it
acts like their phone has been
disconnected. I'll try again on
Monday
Thanks for the response.

Ok, great. So that bushing needs quite of bit of play in it because that pin is what actuates the slave cylinder on the power steering and causes your power steering to work. There will be 2 set screws that go through the steering control arm that this bushing presses into, and this bushing has to have 2 holes in it for those set screws to screw through in order to adjust the play on that pin. The parts manual only shows 1, but there is one on the front and the back, which allows you to adjust when the power steering starts to actuate as you turn the steering left or right. Below is a another discussion we had a few years ago talking about the adjustment, unfortunately I don't have a good picture with everything dissembled. Honestly, that bushing serves little to no purpose, and you have to have play in that pin when you are finished or your power steering will not work.
