Have you all seen the Lavender 1850 on e-bay for $6900.00 I sold that tractor to him for at least $8000.00 5 years ago and shipped it to Quebec , I put many hours in that tractor, pulling engine and 3 speed , doing all clean up and going through the tractor and topping it off with a nice clear coat , come on guys any farmers wife would love this for Christmas and I know A hauler to get it to you in the lower 48 , that's the 3rd Lavender 1850 I did and with the thanks to Helen Dumont all 3 came out great with both color matching and decals ,I still have one myself completely restored and located in Florida which will have to be sold because we will moving south ,last couple years since we moved to the Florida panhandle , has been nothing but cold winters , moved from Downing Wi. 3.5 years ago where I lived for 50 years and bought and sold at least 900 tractors and 100 dozers, figured I would continue my hobby here in Fl. but there is no market around me and not much interest in the old tractors....Thanks and stay warm in the Midwest..Tim

I'm pretty sure that was from an Oliver plow brouchure. I
think it said any color tractor could pull an Oliver plow. I
think Randy has posted it before.

300jk is right its from a plowing demonstration from 1966 " GROWING O DAYS " the Oliver company was advertising the great Oliver plows and saying that it did not matter what color tractor you pulled the plow with , it just meant the Oliver had high clearance for corn stalks and trash , and it pulled a lot easier than other name brands of the same amount of bottoms ,I know my dad did all kinds of plowing in the fall and Oliver was an easier plow to pull and did a great job of covering , at the start of the Oliver plow promotion , Oliver wanted to make the statement that it didn't matter what color the tractor was , just that the plow did a great job, and as far as I know the Oliver Co. banker pulled up in a brand new Caddy in the color of Lavender , and that's how six 1850's got painted Lavender did there plowing demo past all the competition across the field driving that 1850 in a jockey outfit ,{not sure if he actually dropped the plow or not , he was really moving} than the Oliver Co. repainted the 6 tractors green.....Google it

No I didn't goggle it, but I was there in August when they demonstrated the purple tractor. No the jockey did not drop the plow when he drove up to where the people were setting on the semi trailers. That was where they introduced the new 1750.

Was one at the Iowa State Fair a couple of years ago along with the Oliver brochures showing a purple Ollie.
