I found a 1966 1850 that has been sitting without starting for 2 years. It started fine and runs good and everything works goods and it has no hydra power which I like. The one problem it has is it that it is leaking fuel from a little hole in the injection pump. The guy says that there is a diaphram that is bad internal inside the pump which would costs about $600 if wanted to fix it. He also said that the leaking diaphram really dosen't affect the performance of the engine and you can just plug that hole to stop the leak without any side effects. He said that he has done it on his Massey with a perkins engine and had no problems.

Tell me what you think?

Also the tractor has 16.9x38's on the rear. was this an option for this tractor? All i have seen had 18.4x34

I repair those pumps on average for 300-400, complete tear down, cleaning, re-assembled with all new seals and gaskets, and calibration re-set. Includes return shipping. That advance damper that's leaking I do away with as it's not needed, although Perkins thinks it was..

I've got two of them that leak. The 1850 tends to stop after it warms up,the 2-105 leaks any time that it's running.

If you buy it and have diesel tech do the pump have the pump set a little on the short side like a little under 90 horse power. You will have leakage from the valve cover area.

As regarding your tire question- In the 1850 owners' manual there is a page that gives load capacities with various tire sizes. They show all the way down to 15.5-38, which seems to imply that they could be ordered with that tire size. I can't believe there were many that went out that way.
