There's an original 77 at the local scrap yard. It has good
matches tread that are usable but enough weather checking not a
lot of value older paint good and sheet metal are missing. He is
wanting 700. I have a source for sheet metal. I've been wanting
a 77 or an 88. They aren't real common around here. I figure I
would have around $1000 in it by the time it was usable. Is this
a decent price? Not really looking to resell just wanting a
decent old tractor.

Does it run and drive? Does it have hydraulics? If yes to all, without sheet metal $700 still sounds high.

Jr83, Paid $600 at auction for the non running narrow front 77. Paid $800 for the non running wide front. The narrow front had a bent pushrod and broken rocker arm and I found parts at a local salvage yard. Both run great now and the hydra electric even works on the narrow front. I have a lot more money in the wide front new front tires rebuilt carb, rebuilt starter, repaired radiator, used rear tires and rims and louvered side panels. I have less than $100 in the narrow front just plugs ,points, push rod and rocker arm. Lots of parts available from this site and elsewhere. The louvered side panels I found on Craigslist for $200.
