I have a 1650 gas. I am looking at buying a case 781 forage chopper. I believe the chopper calls for 1000 rpm not 540. can I run it with this oliver? i wasn"t sure if this tractor could do it or not. thanks for any help.

You better find out if the 1650 has a 1000 RPM. We sold over 50 model 1650 tractors and only 1 or 2 had the 1000 RPM shaft. It was an option. In fact we had severl 50 series tractors around here that did not even have a PTO. This is not big use the tractor on a PTO country.

I don't know that you'll have power enough if you want to run a 2 row head on it. I ran mine with a 2-135 White and it was all she wanted in real good corn.

(quoted from post at 19:26:00 09/16/13) how do i find out if it has 1000 rpm?

One easy way is to use a handheld friction drive tach. I have one like pictured in this ebay link that my dad bought 35 or more years ago. He bought it to set shaft speeds on old vintage combines. At the time, I thought what a waste of money, but it has come in handy in many ways. They are even cheaper in cost now than they were back then too. Even use it to set the low speed idol and max throttle on vintage tractors via PTO shaft.

Here is a NOS one made by reputable Stewart Warner for $25
