Has anyone put a 1600 motor into a super 77 tub? will it fit? or is there any customizing that has to be done? thanks, any information will be appreciated.

I put an 880 motor in a 1550. Same basic swap. You need to shorten the input shaft and the pto shaft 1 in. Measure 3 times because its easyer to cut it than put it back :~) I didn't have to move the radiator on the 1550. The water pump sets lower on the 77 than the 1600 so you will have to swap pumps or swap fan shrowds. For what its worth, I said I would never do an other one.

0liverkid, you can just slide the engine ahead and drill new motor mount holes and bolt it in. just make sure you have the engine straight before you drill. you can slide the radiator ahead about 2" in the shell. that's how i did it when i had a 310 in my 77. chuck
