I'm not getting the correct RPM's on my digital tachometer. I hooked up a power probe to the pickup and it doesn't show a steady pulse from it. I've adjusted it and out and didn't make much difference. Should I try a new pickup?

Somebody with mere specific knowledge nay answer, but the pickup may have become magnatized itself. I had this happen on another piece of equipment. I replaced the sensor, but maybe you could take yours to a local machine shop and have it degaussed (removes magnetic fields).

When I ran a piece of metal in front of it, it would show a pulse, but when the tractor was running the pulses weren't spaced evenly.

Make sure that all four bolts are in place in the front pulley. The pickup uses the bolt heads as markers.
