Cockshutt/White 2270

I recently received an email from a gentleman who wants to sell a Cockshutt/White 2270. He says the tractor is non-running as the gear on the oil pump broke a few years ago, and the tractor has been sitting since. Is the gear on the oil pump a hard/expensive thing to fix? Never worked on a 2270 before. Obviously the tractor will need other work from sitting, but I haven't seen it in person yet. What would a ball park reasonable price be for this tractor?

Thanks for any help!

I would agree scrap price should be the top dollar paid. Unless a mirical has occurred you can bet that the crankshaft main bearings and/ or rod bearings are scored and/ or spun. That is what happened to my engine. It is also hard to find a good camshaft and oil pump gear if you were to keep it original. Best bet would be to put a running engine out of a 2-150 in it with the external oil pump. Also, it is a sleeveless engine so boring and installing oversize pistons will run you about $1K a hole.

Needless to say I gave $600 and am likely now at $24,000. That is just an engine rebuild and cosmetic parts. Parts from Agco are available but have a hefty price tag. Mine is a 72 model with the White stripe and I kept the internal oil pump for originality.

Not to discourage you; these are a nice running tractor with awesome bottom end torque. If you could put a turbo on it you would have a tougher tractor than a JD 6030!
