Am I right that the Oliver 70 became the 77 and then the Super 77 and then on to the 770? If so what replaced the 770 was it the 1500? Thanks

70 was a completely different tractor than the 77, although size was sort-of comparable. 77, then Super 77, then 770 were fairly similar, and shared some parts. 770 was replace by the 1550, I think- I don't think there was a 1500. But could be wrong. Have been before, will be again.

That's correct. The 1600 replaced the 880,but production of the 770s went on until the 50 series came out.

An answer is to be had to the left on this page under Research and Info at "Serial Numbers" .
Oliver Row Crop Tractor production of this size .
Model 70=1935 to 1948
Model 77= 1948 to 1954
Model Super 77= 1954 to 1958
Model 770= 1958 to 1967
Model 1550= 1965 to 1969
Model 1555= 1969 to 1975
Some but not all mechanicals were shared when models changed. I don't know of a Model 1500 .
1976 saw the end of Oliver Corp. as we knew it. My dad had a 1939 Oliver 70 RC for 42 years and as far as I know it is still running and being used for light work. Hope this is of some help for your questions.JH

Here is a scan of the "Sales Notes" encouraging the dealers to sell the 1550 in place of the 770 as the 770 was no longer produced.

I remember doing a farmer night progrem at a dealership in NE Iowa and he had purchased the last 13 770 tractors that were produced.

Hi guys thanks very much for the info, and I learned something never really knew there was no 1500. Did know that the 770 was built longer than the other hundred series it must have been a popular sized tractor. I know I like mine.
