Cockshutt 30 Wont Stay Running

I have a cockshutt 30 and it will start for about 5 second and dies. Then it won't start again for a while. I thought it was flooding but its not. The carb has been cleaned really good.It has an all new electrical system. Its getting good spark and has good compression. If I put my hand over where the air breather tube hooks to the carb it sucks in my hand so I know its sucking up the fuel. I've checked points carb like 8 times and nothing changes. What could cause this?
 
Is your fuel line plugged? It may run real slow and fills the carb bowl full but then it can't keep up once tractor is running. Check fuel line and sediment bowl
 
Take and find an empty squirt oil can. Fill it with gas. Unhook the hose from the aircleaner to the carburetor. Have someone else start the tractor, make sure it is out of gear and squirt gas into the intake and see if it keeps running. If it does you have issues on the fuel side. Have you checked float level, for air leaks etc?
 
I once had a similar issue, the tractor had sat outside and some how water had gotten into the gas tank and contaminated the fuel - even though the gas cap was on the tank. Anyway, changing the fuel eliminated the problem.
 
Five seconds sounds like a clue. Carb adjustment been checked? I'm not an expert at all, but it sounds like you aren't getting enough fuel to keep it running. When did the engine last run well? My father always did his trouble shooting by changing something on the fuel and the ignition at the same time.
 
I got it running with a spray bottle of gas and the choke on but as soon as you touched the choke it would die. You couldn't even keep it running with the spray.
 
Try by passing the resistor when trying to start.
This gives the ignition system full voltage at start
uo. Caution if left by passed this can cause the
points to burn
