Hi All, I have the 770 in the shop to upgrade a few things, this tractor has Charlyn power steering and as long as I've owned the tractor has leaked at the high pressure hose fitting because when it was installed they didn't use a swivel fitting so corrected that I now have a idea why they did that way, first the oil pressure light switch was in the way, fixed that now I see I can not reconnect the tach cable so my question. Can I remove the 4 screws that hold the drive adapter to the dist, rotate the drive 90 degrees there is enough cable to connect that way.

Thanks Del, yep will make sure there's no sharp bends. Another question I noticed on the LH side just above the clutch rod there is a switch it appears broken and nothing contacts it, would this have been a start safety switch that should be contacted by the clutch rod?
Thanks GB in MN

Yes it is on the later 770s you had to push the clutch in to start the tractor. This was a pain if you had it on a auger you had to get up on the tractor every time you start it up or push it in with your hand from the ground.

Concerning the clutch safety start switch. I have had several 770's over the years. Some with the safety switch still functional and some without. An easy way to see if your's has been bypassed is to look at the wiring harness directly next to the switch. If it has been bypassed, you will find two orange wires jumpered together, or both wires will be screwed down on the same post of the bad switch. If you want an easy test of the functionality of the switch, place one of the orange wires to each screw post and test it out. Some energetic "repairmen" will just cut the wires and splice them, so look hard at those orange wires before proceeding. Good Luck!

Hi Guys thanks again, I figured that is what the switch was, it has obviously been bypassed as I've never had to push the clutch down to start the engine(although I do it automatically) I just removed the side curtains to get at the sediment bowl and noticed some electrical wires and found the switch and it is in bad shape so it will stay bypassed. I've had this tractor for many years and its been a good tractor just got it in the shop to kind of spruce it up some, like new steering wheel, got the 3 pt hitch working again and have to do something with the RH brake and replace the light switch going to install a pull awitch vs a toggle.
Thanks again
