The guy told me the engine had been changed out by his dad, but was unsure what the motor was and his father had passed away. Where can I find a guide to the casting numbers on the block? Im sure this has been beat to death on this topic, but im new to olivers...... :?:

Since you are new to an Oliver did you buy a 77 or a Super 77? Do you have a tractor serial number? It will be on a plate on the dash or below the platform more or less below the gear shift lever if it is before say mid 1952. Also the 185 number is for a block that should be in a 77 series. There will also be a 1M100 type number. What is the complete casting number?

its a 77 engine. J should be able to tell you the exact year. I know its around the same age as the tractor.
