How many gpm on Oliver 550 pump?

I am looking at hydraulic log splitters to run off the remote hydraulic valve of my 550.
How many gpm does that pump produce? One model I am looking at needs 9.5 gpm.
Thanks in advance. Chris

Without looking that up you have about 1/2 of that flow. Also remember pumps are rated in theoretical output, not what goes in the bucket in a minute.

I did look it up (for the very same reason as you), and John is right- its 5, IIRC.

And ditto his other point- you change the hydraulic fluid on a 550 by disconnecting a hose and letting the tractor pump it out. I've measured a garden hose into a 5 gallon bucket before, and believe me, that was no 5 GPM coming out of Ollie.

Of course, if Ollie is half as tired at 50 as I am at 60, its no wonder.

Thanks John.
I reckon I will look for a PTO-powered splitter. This one (Case Ingersoll K32) splits on both strokes but even so it will be maddeningly slow running at half-speed.

Why not hook up a set of remotes and run it off your 2-44 loader pump/ Then you will not even need to run the tractor very fast to split wood, plus you can throw it in the bucket before you put it on your truck.

Its a good thought, John, thanks. I was looking at a 3 PH model but I will give this some thought.
Now you make me think of it, I wonder if my OC3 3-WI loader front pump would be comparable?
