For all you green lovers

A little toungue in cheek subject  Awhile back I posted a question about how a 550 would handle a JD 1209 haybine. Well my buddy let me use his 520 JD for the haybine so I could leave the Ollie on the baler and not have to switch back and forth. Fast forward to last evening. Get home from work and JD won't start, dead batteries. Take the 550 with a chain and drag the JD off the haybine, hook the Ollie up to it and cut 6 acres of the thickest hay I have ever cut. Worked her hard but she did a good job. Thought you other Oliver guys would like to hear how the right color green had to be used to get the work done.

Hey wmthrower,
Can't condemm a tractor for dead batteries. Can happen to the best of them, even an Ollie. Owner didn't maintain, or perhaps operator left something on. 550 is a pretty peppy tractor. I remember my brother chopped his corn one year for his forty cows with his when the 880 went down. Wasn't fast but she "gotter-done".

Haha I thought that you guys might like that. Good thing about my buddy is that he's not really a JD man. He likes the old MH's the most. JD just needed the batteries charged.

Well the update is that the JD was relegated to pulling wagons and the old 550 cut, raked and baled about 2000 bales in the past 5 days. Running strong day after day. I need to sell some hay and buy another one!
