I recently bought a Oliver 1950T and it has a cracked block. Curious if anyone knows the best place to try to find another block or engine. Also, does anyone know if a different motor(cummins, perkins, etc) could be mounted in the tractor and what it would potentially take to do that.

just my 2 cents- dont replace the oem engine- 1950t's are pretty nice original- you can find those blocks pretty handily- there are even places with brand new NOS 310T's for sale

I think I might have a n.o.s 310 block depending
if it is an earlier or later one.
The Cummins option is possible, but the few I
have done cost me more than I planned on spending
The Perkins option is probably a little more cost
effective if you can find 1850D parts. I did 2 of
those.
There is a 310 engine on ebay and the fellow has
a good reputation. But, there is still the risk
of an unknown engine.

If the crack doesn't go through the water jacket you may be able to get it repaired. After fixing/replacing the block I would make sure it has the one-piece wrist pin bushings(9 times out of 10 the two piece bushing is what causes the hole) and the twelve point rod bolts. Also check the sleeve protrusion and make sure it is within spec, or you may have trouble blowing head gaskets. Do this and your 310 will last a long time. For their size they produce good power and are good on fuel as well.

The block is cracked between 5 of the cylinders, where the block bottle necks(it is bad). There is a picture in the stuck and troubled gallery titled Oliver 1950T. Someone mentioned some new NOS 310T's engines and blocks are avaliable, does anyone know specifically where I would go to find one?
