Nice job. A friend of mine had a D6 size crawler (a Cletrac, I think) and motor blew- he put in a Buick V8 with automatic tranny in front of the stock transmission, like you did. He left the stock tranny in low for working, and shuttled the automatic between low and reverse. Presto, a powershift Cletrac!

He had not sorted out the governor and decelerator issues yet and was anxious to try it, so put in an ordinary gas pedal, "just temporary". He said it worked so well that he never bothered with the governor.

he asked I told him if he didn"t ask that would be different if you don"t like the answer don"t ask the question. Also you had better look at yourself with that comment as I didn"t call any names just gave my honest opinion but you sure do like to call people names don"t you. Shame on you!

i welcome all opinions. but for what i use it for i needed a bigger hydraulic pump and a much slower speed. my new pump takes 30 hp at 3000 rpm to turn it.
i have a ware backhoe for it and a back blade i fabricated from an old 3 point blade that i used on my ford 8n. I have the old hercules IXB3 still in good running condition and is for sale (if anybody is interested!).

Now i need to figuer out some kind of counter balance for it. when i get a bucket full of rock the rear comes off the ground 6 inches. but when i put on the backhoe the front comes off the ground easily while moving. any suggestion?

Hard to beat good old fashioned tractor weights, especially in this situation, where you don't want something permanent or difficult to change. Put racks on both the front and back, move them back and forth as needed.

I am interested in a running IXB3

and I agree, what is the point of being negative on here, amongst friends?

BMK8 do you still have the Herc IXB3 engine available? I have my OC3 in the shop right now for some work, the engine is sick and I am looking around just in case. You are quite a way west, but trucks run every day. Landis Z has one he gave a price on last year which is closer but do not know if still avail. thanks

(quoted from post at 06:44:51 10/28/10) sorry, sold the engine last spring
You'll be glad you didn't buy it. I did. Crank nose was all screwed up and needed rebuilding...which is what I am doing now. Another expensive mistake.
