I have a 1958 Oliver 550, gas.
The other day, while moving dirt, the wheel turned too far when going into a pile and broke the steering box. Upon inspection, I found not one but 3 gears broken. Both sector gears, and the rake gear that goes up and down the worm gear on the steering shaft.
I can't help but notice that, at least through pictures, the ford 8N steering box appears to be identical to the unit on my Oliver. Although without having one in my hands, I'm not 100% sure.
Does anyone know for certain, if the bolt pattern is the same on the Oliver 550 and Ford 8N steering boxes ?
Thanks!!
