I have a couple of questions about the Cockshutt 502 swather I just bought. First off, what year is it? The serial number on the rear of the frame is 19018.
Secondly, what is the easiest way to get the underslung gas tank back on? I dropped it to fix a leak at the fitting, and now can't get it back on, despite different methods of getting it in.
I tried fastening both sides of both brackets and sliding the tank in, but the brackets had sprung and couldn't conform to the tank and align the bolt holes.
I tried fastening just one side of each bracket but couldn't get it to seat in the brackets and align the bolt holes.
I tried fastening the brackets to it while it was on the ground and then lifting it up, but you just have to undo the bolts once up and the brackets spring again.
Any help with this problem will be greatly appreciated, I'm sure there is an easier way to do this that I am just too tired or frustrated to think of!
