How were these tractors over all. Did the engines lug pretty good and were they pretty reliable? How were they on fuel? Would $8500 canadien be a decent price for a good one? Thanks in advance, Dave

That tractor has a MM 585 engine , if Im not mistaken it is basically a G1355 tractor which is an Oliver/MM mix...the engines, depends on who you talk to, some people hated them , I LUV them because I have had nothing but good luck with them. They need to be lugged, they do not last long at high RPM. We have 4 of them that we still use around the farm, all except one have over 9000 hrs.Make sure it has the external oil cooler on it. Very critical. We change our oil every 100 hrs which seems to greatly extend life. One of ours dynos at 186 HP.Lots of torque and potential there. $8500 is on high side but if its nice and close to you that is worth a lot. I would pay that for a good one if it were close to home.

Thanks. If it has to be lugged sounds like the kind of engine I want. We always change oil every 100 hours so we should be good that way. Stupid question but do they have a turbo on them? Oh and they have the Oliver transmission with the over/under hydral shift too right?

In answer to the turbo NO. In answer to the transmission yes. They did have a turbo kit for the 585 in the A4T1600 tractors.

Well. Went to look at one last night (that's why I asked about it). What a machine, quite a hunk of tractor. But the thing was the biggest pos I have ever driven or seen. The cab was so loud my grandpa couldn't stand it, the alternator was shot, a gasket on the water manifold or something was leaking, the fuel tank leaked, and it had a hydraulic leak. The wiring was so bad we would have had to completely re-wire it, they guy used it in tractor pulls and he had 5 tractors and 3 of them were apart. We could make it a good tractor but it would take all winter to do it. I still can't believe any one could let something get that bad. Thanks for all your help. Dave
