[b:a104e7033f]Hi,
My dad has been trying to get the governor on a Cockshutt 40 to work right. He just picked this tractor up. As soon as it is off of idle the engine will run away. Tried another governor on it, no difference. I think the problem may lie in the adustment of the linkage. I haven't given it a look yet, just wondered if anyone else has ever ran into this.

[b:02509dcbf9]I will have to look. I'm going to look at the 40 that is at my place and do a comparison to the one at Dad's. The 40 at my place that is in the shed runs like a watch. It was on the back cover of the last Cockshutt Quarterly.
Thanks!!!

Do check the linkage. Also see how much wear you have on the pins the weights pivot ona nad how much wear is on those.

I was told to have the governor and carb wide open and the gov rod should just drop into place.Therfore if you took the rod off and put carb and gov wide open, adjust your rod accordingly.
