As I posted a couple of weeks ago the steering on my 1800 C stopped working correctly when I was planting pastures. I removed the spring and plug from the front side of the flow divider along with the spool from the back side and buffed it with brown paper then replaced it. The steering worked correctly again.
Two days ago the steering became sluggish again so I removed the spool and rebuffed it again, but it did not improve. I then removed the plunger from the front and replaced it; This 'fixed' the steering issue.
Yesterday I was cutting hay and the steering became sluggish again, but corrected itself when I had the wheel turned all the way to the right and was lifting my mower conditioner. This lasted for about 5 minutes when the steering became sluggish again.
What could be causing the problem? Without the power steering it is quite difficult to cut hay, especially with a center pivot NH 499 when you are cutting in passes!!!!
