Guy says he has parts tractor for 300 bucks whole tractor and doesn't know whether it's a 9 or 8n. He supposed to send me pics. Question is is there 300 bucks of parts if it would happen to be a 9n that I can use on my side mount 8n?

I'd see exactly what this girl needs to bring her back to a working machine. If the block isn't cracked, see what it'll cost to restore, not necessary to original, but at least running, then maybe sell her and get more for it...

Guy sent pics. Looks like an early 8n.. he called said it's been setting a while just missing a lift arm and new rims on rear... looks like the parts tractor will be another project!!

as has been said. if you don't mind a mutt, and the donor has good parts.. you can do some mix n match. seat, fenders, rear tires and rims, the pump and top cover together will swap, the engine, radiator, pto shaft assembly, if it is the late assembly. if you start breaking it down, then parts from the rear center section.. though note the rear center will fit, but doesn't have drawbar tappings... etc.

If it is all there I would buy it. The last 8n parts tractor I saw brought $1000 at a farm sale. The owner tore the engine down to overhaul it and never finished. The engine was in several five gallon buckets.

If it is 4-speed it is a 8n.

No way to answer without knowing more about it. Many parts will fit - rear rims, tires, fenders - if you don't care about originality.
Worst case you cod part it out and take the $ to buy the parts you need.
I would do that deal.
