Hello All;
I am still trying to get the hydraulics working on my 8n. The sump is now clean and free of crud. The problem is I am not sure what to fix tio make it work, so; here are the actions I have taken so far: With the dip stick panel removed, if I move the valve arm connected to the lower end of the control arm 'manually', the hydraulics work and will hold a load. If i move the control arm from the rest position to the vertical position, nothing happens. I am not sure where to go from here. Is there a description of the various functions of the valves and moveable pieces within the 8n hydraulic pump? Or, can anyone point me in the right direction... help!
Thanks,

Your PTO must be running for the hydraulics to work.

The PTO shaft drives the pump. Clutch also has to be up/engaged.

If you can move the linkage manually and it works, I would

"assume" that both of those things are in tact.

There is a cork friction disk in the lift control handle.

Is your in place and in good condition?

Hello All;
I am still trying to determine what needs to be repaired or adjusted on my 8n to get the hydraulics in order. I have heard, that if one removes the left side port (instead of the dip stick right port) there are PTO adjustments that must be done. I have never read anything about what these are and would these have anything to do with the functions of the hydraulics? The reason I ask is I do not want to tear something down without knowing I am going in the right direction. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,

Quoting Removed, click Modern View to seeA good starting point would be the manual, read & identify parts by name, so that readers of your post will be able to tell what you are talking about.

I'm by far no expert but I'm currently working on mine. Sounds like the problem is with the linkage. Pull the top cover and inspect the linkage. Have the manual to help diagnose any problems and adjust it within specs. Check the cam follower pin. Also zane sells a jig to help get everything set just right. Is the control rod straight?

Hello;
Thanks for the suggestion. In this venue, I do not know how to get hold of Zane to talk to him about his hydraulic setup jig. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would appreicate it.
Thanks,
