How do I get the blessed radius arms off my 8n!! Can I pound the front pin up and out? Either mine are frozen in or I need more of the "armstrong" method. Any advice here? I did not find any help on this one in the archive. Thanks.

Just took mine off last week, after spending about a week soaking, pounding to no luck. The light bulb finally came on and I raised the front of the tractor up and took the load off the front wheels, they nearly popped out by them selves . You do need to take the load off the front wheels..... ..good luck

I had one that took many hours of pounding, and heating. when in doubt, use a bigger torch. the axel absorbs alot of heat. The big cutting head blew out the top and bottom of the bolt, and the stub still had to be pounded out. Hope this helps

Try jacking the axle up and letting the axle down on a solid block, an anvel works good, where the pin contacts the block. It is easier to pound down on the axle than up on the pin. Let it soak with penetrating oil couple days if you can afford the "down time". Good luck, ray

I broke my radius arm about a year ago. What I did was to get a 1/2" concrete anchor bolt thats shaped like a "J" and a 5 lb. sledge and pounded the pin up from the bottom. I took a little while but with the help of some WD-40 it pop out. As it turned out it was bent. Hope this helps, Good luck

I had to end up drilling one of the pins out on my 8N. Only trouble is, FNH doesn't sell the 8N pins. All I could get from FNH was the bolt style for the 9N and 2N. I got lucky and was able to find two nice pins from a fellow on this board.
You might try heat and a press, but mine was so stuck, that not even a press would push it out. Good luck!!!

I had one that i had to take to a machine shop with a 40 ton press. Neither the press nor heat helped. Ended up drilling it out and it was super tuff stuff.

Never heard of anyone with that problem... The pin should come right out.. Mine are loose... A couple of whacks with a drift pin and hammer should do it..
Happy Motoring

My radius rods were bent. Once I jacked up the front of the tractor and took the weight off of the front, they came right out, I undid the rear mounts first to let the radius rods "swing" thus helping "unload" the preload. There was a side load on the pins from the RR being bent.
This was on a 2N though.
