After my recent debacle with wires melting, I wonder if anyone has a wire sizing guide for re-wiring my 48 8N. I bought the cheapo Tractor Supply rewire kit, now I will be making my own out of good marine grade wire. Anyone BTDT and could provide that sizing?

Thanks for the replies. I now have the tractor wired according to JMOR's diagram and so far so good! I appreciate your time and comments.

ditto what bruce said...

14awg wire will handle everything but bat/starter cable and charge line.

i'd go 8awg for charge.

and 0+ for bat/starter.

in the 'BTDT' category, I have made field wire harni for tractors out of trailer brake wire.. the kind that come sin 4 colors flat.

had cows pull and chew all my wires off out in a field and had nothing else but black tape and wire nuts and a few feet of leftover flat trailer wire.

1 strand of 14awg on all basic circuits.. bat cables were fine, 2 strands of 14awg on the 12v charge circuit was fine too.

if your tsc harni burned up.. it was wired wrong...

Google"wiring diagrams JMOR" and find the diagram that fits your tractor. Your problem wasn't a cheap TSC kit; you wired it wrong.
