Well, it's not an 8N carb, Gary, so you can relax a bit. The float in my AC 190 carb started sticking while baling a couple weeks ago, so I ordered a rebuild kit - she's back on the job now.

(my workbench is not nearly as neat as Gary's, either - couldn't find my surgical gloves!)
:P

I guess I haven't worked carbs yet, but nitrile gloves stand up to every solvent I've thrown at them so far (brake cleaner, WD40, ATF & acetone mix, and kerosene)

For me the gloves just make clean up so much easier. I was building brakes last night (my 1949 CJ3A, not my 8N). I was using brake lube, anti-seize, and brake cleaner. When I was done lubing the anchor pins and cams, I stripped the gloves off, and put a new pair on, so I wouldn't get the lube everywhere. Same with the anti-seize. (And that stuff really does get everywhere, which is why the brake cleaner came next...) At 20 cents a pair, I don't mind going through four pairs in a work session. And then when I'm done, a quick wash up, and I'm okay to go in the house. Without the gloves, it's ten minutes at the sink with the Gojo and scrub brush...

Gloves what the heck are those??? I rebuild carbs all the time and never use gloves. Shoot I think if I did use gloves they would melt to my hands with the stuff I soak my carbs in

I have yet to find any plastic or other such gloves that will hold up to a good carb cleaner. Now if I am working with Jalapeno peppers or such heck yes I wear gloves. Learned a few years back when your hand start to burn because of the peppers there nothing you can do but live with the burn

JC, feel free to shoot me an email. Stop in and visit!

For that matter, if you get any where near us Joan and I
would be glad to meet ya'll somewhere and buy dinner.

We're a bit East of Silver Lake, but she's originally from the

Grand Rapids area. We're just North of Ionia.

Royse I must have given you the wrong impression.

I CANT EVEN SEE THE FLOOR.

Got three top covers on the bench now, trying to piece together one good one.

Wife, baby and I are headed up your way all next week. Gonna hit up Silver Lake and a few others for a week of camping.

At least ya'll can see your workbench. :(

I've got three tractors tore apart in the shop right now.

Can't see my pencils for the paper.

I better get busy, I like to park my truck in there in the
winter since it's heated!

Ed

You work like me. Gary would have all the tiny pieces and immaculate tools in perfect rows like toy soldiers. Your shop rags are cleaner than mine though.

"Carb Shack" is registered trademark of GB in MT Inc. You better go with something like Carb Joint or the like.

Glad you got er going.
